The construction phase of the Innovate Mound project is getting closer every day. Details are being finalized and the groundbreaking is expected before the end of summer 2021.

This vital and comprehensive reconstruction of the Mound Road corridor will run through 2024. Construction-related lane closures or detours may be necessary throughout the process. Take some time to prepare for the project to:

• Reduce closure surprises
• Increase driver safety
• Keep construction workers safe

While the Innovate Mound team is putting the finishing touches on the project plan, there are also a few things that you can do to get ready for the groundbreaking.

Safety is an important consideration when driving through construction zones. Drivers should be prepared to be extra vigilant to ensure their safety, as well as the safety of their passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and the road construction work crew.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), there were more than 5,800 work zone crashes in 2019. With a large road project such as Innovate Mound, this is imperative to keep in mind.
